Arlington, TX (Sports Network) – The Texas Rangers placed third baseman Adrian Beltre on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with a left hamstring strain.
Beltre apparently suffered the injury in the fifth inning of Friday’s 12-2 victory when he injured himself running the bases, leaving the game thereafter.
Beltre was hitting .276 with 20 home runs, and 76 RBI for the Rangers this season. He leads the team in extra-base hits (49), RBI and total bases (196).
To fill the roster spot, the Rangers recalled infielder Chris Davis from Triple-A Round Rock.
This will be Davis’ third stint in the majors this year, with the others coming April 13-May 22 and June 8-10. He batted .269 with three home runs and four RBI in total 21 games for Texas.
